The Gran Fondo route is a concentration of adrenaline and beauty. Technical skill and endurance are the skills to “tame” the course. From the first single track after the first ascent of Serra Buffa, passing through the suggestive path of Grotta dei Ladroni, a gutter that crosses the lava flow of 1865, bikes and bikers will be put to the test. You have to be concentrated and always “on the piece” for all the 45.5 kilometres of the route: the lava terrain doesn’t give anybody discounts, not even during the dizzying single track descent to the finish line in Milo.
There are two main climbs, the first climb towards Serra Buffa, 6 km with the famous 20% basolato, and the second climb of Serra Buffa, faced from the side of Monte Crisimo, less long but no less demanding.
