Cicloturistica Etna Rules
PROGRAM AND REGULATIONS
1. ORGANIZATION
The Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Mongibello MTB Team, as part of the 20th edition of the Etna Marathon, organizes under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation the ecological cycling event known as the “Ciclo-Turistica dell’Etna.”
2. FORMAT
The Ciclo-Turistica dell’Etna is a non-competitive ride taking place on secondary, low-traffic roads on the eastern slope of Etna, between the municipalities of Milo, Sant’Alfio, and Mascali. It is a group ride with various stops and two refreshment points, accompanied by lead and sweep vehicles and staff cyclists from the Etna Marathon team.
3. ROUTE
21.5 km with 560 meters of elevation gain
The route is entirely on asphalt with no technical difficulties. Two main climbs are included. The first goes from Montargano toward the Provincial Road Linguaglossa-Fornazzo, covering 4.2 km with an average gradient of 4.6%. The second goes from Sant’Alfio toward Fornazzo, covering 2.5 km with an average gradient of 5.8%.
4. PARTICIPATION
Amateur cycling tourists are welcome, whether registered with the Italian Cycling Federation or another sports promotion body, or unregistered. Unregistered participants must present a certificate of fitness for non-competitive cycling issued by a general practitioner. Any type of bicycle is permitted (e-bike, MTB, road, gravel, etc.), provided the bike is in good condition, fully functional, and capable of handling descents and climbs that may at times exceed 10% gradient.

6. REFRESHMENTS
Two major refreshment stations are planned:
– The first at Piazza Duomo in Sant’Alfio (Km 5.3), offering drinks, coffee, biscuits, and local traditional sweets
– The second at Favazza Etna Winery (Km 18), offering drinks, local products, and an Etna wine tasting
7. REGISTRATION
Online registration opens on April 10, 2026, and is carried out on the Etna Marathon website. On-site registration will not be possible. Registration will close once the total of 100 participants is reached.
8. REGISTRATION PROCESS
Registration is completed by filling out the online registration form. Registrations will only be considered valid once payment has been made.
9. PARTICIPATION FEE

10. PAYMENT
- By credit card or PayPal online at www.etnamarathonmtb.it (administrative fee: €2.00) at the time of registration. When paying via PayPal, the participant’s name must be included in the notes.

11. BIB NUMBER AND RACE PACK COLLECTION
- Sabato 06/06 dalle ore 8:30 alle ore 9:30
Saturday, June 6, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Piazza Belvedere, at the organization’s dedicated stand.
12. SERVICES
Race pack, medical assistance, 2 refreshment stations along the route, Etna Marathon pasta party (Sunday, June 7), lead and sweep rider service.
13. RACE PACK
Energy supplements, gadgets, Sicilian products, bike lubricants, and more to be confirmed.
14. BIKE NUMBERS
The organization will provide participants with a number plate to be placed on the front of their bicycle.
15. SAFETY MEASURES
Helmet use is mandatory throughout the entire route. Anyone not complying with this rule will not be allowed to participate. The event will take place partly on public and private roads that are not closed to traffic. Compliance with the Italian Highway Code is mandatory.
16. EVENT CANCELLATION
The event will take place under any weather conditions, provided the safety and health of participants is not at risk. In the event of adverse weather, the organization may decide to shorten the route. If, due to force majeure, the event cannot take place, the participation fee will not be refunded or carried over to the following year. All related details will be announced online or on-site during the event.
17. SIGNATURE
By submitting the registration form, participants declare that they hold a valid membership card and have read and accepted these regulations. The participant consents to the use of their images and personal data in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016 (GDPR). They also consent to the use by the organizing committee of any photos or footage taken of participants and children during the event for advertising or marketing purposes of any kind.
